We're heading to China soon!

On Tuesday, our agency informed us that they had confirmation of our consulate date, April 3, in Guangzhou, China!  This is the time that we meet with U.S. officials and promise to love and care for our daughter forever.  The appointment also is the process for generating Chloe's visa to travel to the U.S.  For us, this date is so appropriate because Tim and I will also be celebrating our 19 year commitment to each other.  That's right; we'll be married 19 years April 3!  Being together in China with the newest family member just seems like the appropriate way to celebrate our anniversary.

This date was also the last piece of information our agency needed before setting official travel dates.  Below is our tentative general itinerary.  (We'll get our official travel packet some time next week.)

  • Leave for Beijing - Wed., 3/21 at 12:40 p.m.
  • Arrive in Beijing - Thurs., 3/22 at 11:40 p.m.
  • Adjusting to the time change, resting, and sightseeing - Fri. and Sat., 3/23 and 3/24
  • Leaving for Hefei, Anhui (Chloe's province) - Sun., 3/25
  • "Gotcha" Day - Mon., 3/26
  • Consulate Appointment in Guangzhou - Tues., 4/3
  • Late night flight from Guangzhou to Hong Kong - Thurs., 4/5
  • Leave for home from Hong Kong - Fri., 4/6
  • Arrive in Atlanta - Fri., 4/6 at 7:40 p.m.
We are sooo excited....and overwhelmed.  We can't wait to bring our girl home!

  3. Lisa, I can't wait for your Gotcha Day. How exciting, it's almost here.

We traveled almost the same time as you in 2007. Our CA was on our 2 year Anniversary, 4/10. Yes, it is a wonderful Anniversary Gift!

Wishing your daughter an easy transition.
